M. J. Printing Pty. Ltd. was established in a small factory in Victoria Street, Abbotsford by its managing director Mr. John Housey in 1972.
It was here that the roots of the business became firmly entrenched and the business started to grow.
John Housey employed a printer whilst he went about selling printing to various businesses. As the business kept on growing so was the need to employ more staff and purchase more equipment.
In those early years the company could only afford to purchase second hand equipment. Being a tradesman printer this did not stop John Housey demanding the “highest quality printing and service” for his customers, a principle that is still in place today.
It did not take long and because of expansion the company moved to larger premises in Duke Street, Abbotsford.
This necessitated in the need for more staff and new equipment was purchased.
In 1994 John Housey travelled to a trade exhibition in America. It was there he saw the trend was moving to short run colour printing. He then set about changing the core of the business from printing corporate stationery and business forms to that of specialising in short run colour printing.
M. J. Printing was one of the first companies to retrofit continuous dampening to its Heidelberg Offset Presses and the use of polyester CTP (Computer to Plate) technology for outputting digital files for short run colour printing.
M. J. Printing soon gained a reputation as a specialist in producing short run colour printing and is still recognised today by its competitors and trade suppliers.
The company again moved to larger premises in 1997 to its present location at 86-88 Stephenson Street, Richmond, Victoria 3121.
Continuing to invest in technology and new equipment has given the company an edge over its competitors to be able to cope with the high demands of fast turnaround colour printing.
Today, John Housey is supported by a dedicated management team and loyal staff who all embrace the principles of “quality and customer service”.
